13-Year-Old Girl Raped and Killed in Gwagwalada Abuja

 

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by local miners in the Tipper Garage area of Gwagwalada Area Council, Federal Capital Territory.

Ibrahim Ciroma, the Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in the council, disclosed the incident to *Daily Trust* during a telephone interview on Sunday. 

He explained that the girl, who had gone out to sell milk on Thursday, was reported missing, and her body was found the following day in the Tipper Garage area.

Ciroma noted that the girl's private parts were stained with blood, and after being taken to the hospital, doctors confirmed that she had been raped.

 He added, "The incident has been reported to the police, and by God's grace, some miners suspected of committing the crime have been arrested."

Reports also indicate that the situation nearly escalated into violence, as herders gathered in the area with the intention of attacking the miners. However, the swift intervention of security forces helped to calm the situation.

The spokeswoman for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating that "seven suspects have been arrested."
